Little Wind

Little wind
I see you
whispering in the stalwart trees
caressing the quiet leaves
sliding across the still water in the bird bath
My cat raises his head
sniffing your sweet scent
Then he closes his eyes in a sort of meditation
and I wonder why I’m watching all of this
from inside my home
I should walk outside
and feel your freshness breeze along my flesh
I should lift my head to watch the clouds
glide silently across the light blue sky
But I don’t
Because I have a long list of things to do
Oh yes I do
So maybe another day, little wind
maybe another day you can wash over me
and I’ll close my eyes
and let it all go
But not today
No, not today
