Buffalo hooves

    thundering across the grassy plains

Buffalo call

    bellowing in the omnipresent air

I am listening

At one with the arrow

reaching for blood

        red and pulsing

Buffalo falling

a life dusted by righteousness

    of the arrow

I can hear the heart

coming to rest in its home of

    muscle and skin

Somewhere in the vast plains

Buffalo spirit

advances like a king

    Alone and brave

Thundering hooves

         echoing in the heavens

    1. Hi Rosemary — Thank you so much for reading my poems, and liking them. Sometimes it feels like I’m writing into an empty world, so it’s great to know that you like what I write.
I hope you are doing well up there in the cold lands😊
