The pulse of the breathing earth
stumbles in a silence I can hear
My heart reaches out
to soothe the tremble
But I find I am also stumbling
through the noise of human life
The strength I believed in
scratches wispy and soft
And I discover empty places
once filled with dreams
now echoing like empty caverns
long bereft of living creatures
Dear Earth I can offer no solace
no bandaid for your distress
But I pray we can go on
as two connected souls
loving each other’s lives
until we are no more
